The Crawleys have packed up and left New York City, and like so many snowbirds, will be spending the winter in Florida.
If you are a fan of Downton Abbey – and aren’t we all – you should know that the blockbuster exhibit in NYC of costumes, sets and unseen footage from the popular series re-opens in West Palm Beach in November, after a year-long run in NYC.
Normally, NYC on the Cheap does not publish information about out-of-town events and exhibits, but we are making an exception for the popular Downton Abbey Exhibit, so you can start planning now for a holiday visit to Florida.
Downton Abbey: The Exhibition allows you to – literally – step into ‘Downton Abbey’ to wander through sumptuous fashions, family rooms, the kitchen and servants quarters below stairs, and to get right up close to many of the iconic costumes and props, and see clips of unused footage from the popular TV show.
According to Gareth Neame, Producer of Downton Abbey and Executive Chairman of Carnival Films, the Florida exhibit will be even larger than the NYC one, which covered three floors of a midtown office building.
From Mrs. Patmore’s hectic kitchen and the gossip-fueled servants’ quarters, to the family’s glamorous dining room and Lady Mary’s bedroom, fans will get the chance to walk through some of the series’ most recognizable and beloved sets. Visitors will also get an up-close look at over 50 of the show’s official costumes, worn by their favorite actors including Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville and Dame Maggie Smith.
