One of the great treats of summer in the city is FREE outdoor movies in NYC parks and other locations in all five boroughs. It’s become a summer tradition ever since since 1992, when HBO first began showing films in Bryant Park, and each year it seems there are more free movie screening in more NYC locations on more nights of the week.
All kinds of films are shown, from Hollywood classics to current blockbusters, indie gems and foreign language treats with subtitles, kid’s favorites and others more appropriate for a 21+ audience only, often with the sensational backdrop of the NYC skyline.
Bring a blanket or a lawn chair, a picnic basket, and enjoy cinema alfresco and outdoors, with a NYC vibe.
Unless otherwise noted, screenings start at dusk, typically around 8:30pm. Check the listings for details and then grab a blanket, bring some snacks and enjoy cinema alfresco, NYC style.
