Prepare for Passover at Matzapalooza!. This is a family-friendly event where you can make your own Haggadah, enjoy a concert of Passover songs in English, Hebrew and Yiddish, and more, including a marketplace for Passover foods for your Seder table.
Matzapalooza! is 10am to 1pm, Sunday, April 2nd at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, in Lower Manhattan.
Passover 2017 begins at sunset on Monday, April 10, and ends after sunset on Tuesday, April 18
Here’s what’s on the schedule at Matzapalooza!:
Arts and Crafts: Make-your-own Haggadah, Elijah and Miriam cups, and more.
Activities: An afikomen (hidden matza) scavenger hunt for Passover artifacts throughout the Museum and a photo booth in which participants can dress up and pose as Passover plagues.
Music: Jeff Warschauer and Deborah Strauss perform a sing-along concert of Passover songs in Yiddish, Hebrew, and English.
Noshing & Shopping: Build your own modern Seder menu at our marketplace of artisanal purveyors of Passover foods.
This is a ticketed event, $10 per person, including children. Museum members attend free, including children and grandchildren of members.
The event includes museum admission.
My personal favorite spot here is the outdoor Zen-like Garden of Stones, overlooking the Hudson River and the Statue of Liberty in the distance. Sit on a bench and contemplate the world.
