Swing dance to a live band on Monday nights, for $20. Big Band Monday returns for the season on Monday, September 12, at an elegant restaurant/nightclub in Flatiron. Dance to the Big Band sounds of the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s, played by the Glenn Critter Orchestra.
Swing and sway to the music of Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Artie Shaw and more.
Admission is $20 for standing room only, and no food or beverage minimum. There’s a $20 minimum per person for food or drinks for table seating,
The band will play from 7:30pm to 10:30pm, and there’s no extra charge to stay longer and dance to the music of a DJ spinning swinging tunes, until 11:30pm.
Big Band Monday is at Slate Bar and Restaurant 54 West 21st Street.

Note that while there’s no official dress code, tacky t-shirts and work-out clothes are not welcome. Many dancers here dress up in vintage clothing, and it’s a friendly dance crowd, where it’s easy to ask a stranger to dance because you want to dance.
