Friday freebie: Get FREE admission to the South Street Seaport Museum, including ship tours, family-friendly activities and more, on the last Friday of the month, starting this Friday, August 26th. The next free Friday is September 30th, and again on October 28th. Free Fridays are 3PM to 7PM
Free Fridays at the Seaport includes free admission to the Seaport Museum exhibition Street of Ships: The Port and its People, special tours, artisan demonstrations, talks and lectures, and hands-on activities for the whole family.
Each Free Friday is centered around a different theme.
The theme for the August program is “Peking” in honor of the famed tall ship currently berthed at Pier 16. This is the final weekend of public access to Peking to prepare her for a trans-Atlantic journey to visit to Hamburg, Germany.
What other NYC museums offer free admission on Fridays?
Special programming includes participating in sail raising aboard the ship, printing demonstrations at Bowne Printers with free Peking themed take-aways, and a screening of Around Cape Horn at Melville Gallery, thanks to Mystic Seaport Museum.
The Free Friday program is supported in part by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, and the Office of New York Assembly Member Alice Cancel.
