Are you an excellent communicator and a go-to person? Those are admirable qualities. Just don’t use those tired, overworked phrases in a resume or cover letter. Read this Mediabistro guide on what other buzzwords to avoid.
Dress for success – that means no flip flops, tacky t-shirts or dirty fingernails. Bring business cards and resumes if you have them, and something to take notes. Our old-fashioned advice is to take an old-fashioned paper notebook and pen. If you have your face buried in your smartphone or tablet, it might look like you are texting or snapchatting, instead of noting what the job recruiter is saying.
