There’s plenty to do in NYC free and cheap on weekends, especially on this three-day Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. Free and cheap activities include your last chance to see the remaining holiday exhibits and several museum and gallery exhibits before they get packed away.

Alice Live! – This exhibit commemorates the 150th anniversary of the publication of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, which we all know as Alice in Wonderland. The exhibit, at the Library for the Performing Arts in Lincoln Center, traces the history of Lewis Carroll’s beloved stories, exploring the films, ballets, opera and Broadway shows based on Alice’s timeless adventures. Luminaries at Winter Garden – The popular interactive light show that fills the glass structure with dancing lights and patterns, has been extended through the end of February. Details here.

A Little Bite of the Big Apple – Kid-sized exhibit about life in NYC, with child-size police cars to drive, books and more, through Jan. 18 at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan on the Upper West Side. Admission fee.
Ernest Hemingway: Between Two Wars – Personal correspondence and more from his youth in Idaho to his years in Key West, Cuba and Spain, wiritng some of the best beloved classics in the English language. Through Jan. 31 at the Morgan Library in Midtown. Admission fee

Bargemusic – Walk across the gangplank to a renovated barge for a family-friendly concert and the chance for Q&A with musicians. This is the last concert of the season, at 4pm at Brooklyn Bridge Park. Bargemusic website.

MLK Remembrance on Humanizing Criminal Justice Annual remembrance keeps the memory and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. focusing on society goal of humanizing criminal justice, with a panel discussion. 11am at New York Society For Ethical Culture, 2 West 64th Street. Suggested donation: $5, includes snacks and beverages.
