Whether or not the snow from last weekend’s blizzard will be melted, there will be plenty of ice on Feb. 13 for the Central Park Ice Festival, with a FREE ice-carving demo of a favorite statue and a silent disco to dance around it.
The ice carving is during the day, and the disco is at dusk, when the ice statue is lit with multi-colored lights.
Watch ice-carving artists from Okamoto Studio use electric chain saws, chisels, and picks to transform more than 6,000 pounds of ice into a glistening replica of Alice in Wonderland, one of Central Park’s most iconic statues, and a favorite of kids for generations.
As night falls, revel among colorful lights as the Mall becomes a vibrant silent disco with live DJs, all to celebrate the preservation efforts of the Central Park Conservancy.
