Ghostbusters – Who you gonna call? See a FREE indoor screening of the popular film at St. Mary’s Recreation Center in the Bronx, at 6:30pm. Event website.
Bowling Green Park Fair – Broadway and Whitehall St., 9am to 6pm
Chelsea Nights at Chelsea Market – Concerts by emerging musicians who record with the Paper Garden label. Tonight it’s New Myths, EMEFE and Mail the Horse. The music begins at 6:30, and includes a chance to win a Crosley Radio turntable + vinyl pack,Chelsea Market goodies and a Paper Garden 7″ record. Event website.

Canstruction – See how creative artists can be with cans of food. LEGO-like Canstruction pop art sculptures are made up of 100,000 cans, which will be distributed by City Harvest to nearly 500 soup kitchens and food pantries across NYC in time for Thanksgiving. At Brookfield Place, which used to be called the Winter Garden at World Financial Center. 10am to 6pm daily. Canstruction website
What’s free Saturday in NYC
Pumpkin Smash at Red Hook Farms – You and the kids smash them, and the NYC Compost Project will turn them into compost for NYC parks and green spaces. Bring pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns and gourds to be smashed. There’s also refreshments, raffles and more, 10am to 2pm, in Brooklyn. Event website.
Union Square Autumn Fair – Street fair along the western edge of the park, on Broadway, between 17th and 23rd Streets.
Target First Saturdays at Brooklyn Museum – This month’s theme for the free admission day is “connecting cultures”, and includes a concert of Eastern European music. 5pm to 11pm.

Free on Sunday in New York City
Coinvent Pulse Business and Technology Festival – Free seminars and workshops about how to become an tech entrepeneur, plus a hiring expo, plus the chance to test drive a Tesla. At Metropolitan Pavillion, 125 West 18th St. See the full schedule of workshops here. You must register (also free) to ensure space.
Times Square Tourist Fair – You don’t have to be a tourist to enjoy this street fair, and remember that the NYPD says paying the street performers is optional, not required. On 46th St. between Sixth and Seventh Aves.
