Junior’s, the legendary Brooklyn restaurant, celebrates its 65th anniversary today with 65 cent cheesecake. This birthday – or anniversary celebration – is only at the original Junior’s location in Brooklyn restaurant, not at the Grand Central Terminal Food Court outpost.
The 65 cent cheesecake slice is only for take-out orders or with a dine-in purchase of an entree, 6:30am to midnight.
Also today only, an entire Junior’s cheesecake is $19.50, commemorating the year the restaurant opened. After today, the regular price returns to $32.95.
The original Junior’s is at 386 Flatbush Avenue, corner DeKalb. Do we even need to say this is in Brooklyn? Of course not. Because everybody in the world knows that Junior’s is as synonymous with Brooklyn as it is with cheesecake.
And while you are saying Happy Anniversary, also say “thank you” to owner Alan Rosen, whose grandfather opened Junior’s in 1950. Last year Rosen turned down a multi-million dollar deal to sell the valuable corner property to a developer.
