Help save Times Square’s Broadway pedestrian plazas, save Times Square Arts from the misguided plan by Mayor de Blasio to eliminate them to get rid of costumed characters and nude women in body paint.
Yes, the costumed Elmo, Spiderman, Statue of Liberty and other characters sometimes act inappropriately, harassing tourists for money to pose for selfies. And, yes, the so-called Desanudas may offend some people. But ripping out the pedestrian plazas in Times Square will only send these “entrepeneurs” elsewhere, such as to the pedestrian-only 9/11 Memorial Plaza.
