As always, there’s plenty to do in NYC free and cheap on weekends, and this mid-summer weekend is no exception, with street fairs, car-free Summer Streets, the big Dominican Day Parade and the more. Let’s hope the weather cooperates with all the outdoor events.

Summer Streets NYC: Ride or walk car-free in Lower Manhattan, and stop to rest or have fun at special water slides, exhibits and more. See this recent NYCOTC posting for all the details on Summer Streets NYC.
Great Jazz on the Great Hill: An afternoon of live music, swing dancing, and delicious food. Bring a picnic to enjoy, or purchase food from a variety of food trucks. Family activities take place all day. Co-presented with Jazzmobile. RSVP to let Central Park know you’re coming. The Great Hill is at 106th St. and Central Park West. Open to all ages. 4pm to 7pm.
SummerStage 30th Anniversary Concert: NYC’s largest free performing arts festival offers up three superstar DJs playing a combination of Latin jazz, Caribbean tempos, hip hop, and techno. At Rumsey Playfield, central Park, starting at 5pm. Enter the park at 72nd and Fifth Ave.
Times Square Summer Fair: Street fair on 45th St, between Fifth and Seventh Avenues
Saturday and Sunday in NYC
Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival: Dozens of colorful, handmade dragon boats are participating in the 25th Anniversary of this popular and colorful “happening”, plus dance and music performances and more. In Flushing Meadow/Corona Park. See this recent NYCOTC posting for full details.

World Trade Center Fair: Street fair on Liberty St. between Broadway and Trinity Place, 11-6
60th Street Festival: Street fair on 60th Street between Fifth and Madison Avenues
Dominican Day Parade: One of the largest and most colorful and musical parades in NYC marches and dances up Sixth Avenue, from 38th to 54th Streets, beginning at noon.
NYC weekend flea markets and food fairs:
Smorgasburg: The popular Brooklyn foodie festival is outdoors every weekend through fall, with more than 75 local vendors selling top quality sodas, gluten-free sodas, seafood and more.
