NYC Foodie Alert: Celebrate Asian culture and food Saturday and Sunday in Times Square, at the Taste Asia Food Fest, with chef demos, free samples. Plus, more than one dozen top NYC Asian restaurants will have booths selling everything from hand-pulled noodles to bubble tea.
Taste Asia culinary all-stars making appearances include Michelin-starred chefs Hemant Mathur (Haldi, Chola) and Joe Isidori (Chalk Point Kitchen, Black Tap Burgers), Japanese Iron Chef Yuji Wakiya (KOA), Terry French (Food Network’s World Extreme Chef 2012), Beat Bobby Flay veterans, Brian Tsao (Mira Sushi) and Esther Choi (Mokbar), and Barret Beyer (Hell’s Kitchen 11, Cutthroat Kitchen).
During the foodie fest, Cathy Erway, celebrated author of The Food of Taiwan and The Art of Eating In, will host a special live Dumpling Making & Eating Contest, for the title of “Dumpling Master”.
The free two-day Taste Asia Food Fest outdoor foodie is Saturday and Sunday, in the pedestrian-only area of Broadway between 42nd and 42rd Streets, noon to 8pm both days.
