The Vendy Plaza food truck market and open-air market will feature more than two dozen local food trucks and food vendors each Sunday, noon to 6pm, through September 9. It’s being managed by Cesar Fuentes, who managed the Red Hook Food Vendors marketplace for more than a decade.
A beer garden also is in the plans.
Vendy Plaza was launched last year by the Vendy Awards, City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito and the NYC Economic Development Corporation, with a three-fold aim:
To revitalize La Marqueta Rotona, the landmark Harlem market, offer tasty street food, and act as an incubator to new businesses.
Perhaps some of these Vendy Plaza food trucks will grow into brick-and-mortar restaurants, as Wafels & Dinges, The Halal Guys and Mexicue have done.
It’s being managed by Cesar Fuentes, who managed the Red Hook Food Vendors marketplace for more than a decade.
Vendy Plaza at La Marqueta is at Park Ave. and 116th Street, under the Metro-North tracks.
