NYC insider tip: Everyone knows the toughest ticket in NYC each summer is to the FREE Shakespeare in the Park performances at the outdoor Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Tickets for that day’s performance are handed out at 1 p.m. to those who line up, starting as early as 6 a.m.
But here are two insider tips to get these hard-to-get tickets:
- For the disabled and those over 65 (proof of age required) there’s a separate, seated line for tickets on specified benches in front of the theater box office. Maximum 2 tickets per person.
- Avoid the ticket line entirely by signing up for the daily virtual ticket lottery. Register online – click here to register – and enter after midnight of the day you want to attend. Log in the afternoon of the performance to see if you’ve been chosen.
Shakespeare in the Park 2015 is from May 27 through July 5 and includes The Tempest and Cymbeline.
