As always, there’s plenty to do in NYC free and cheap on weekends, and this three day Memorial Day weekend has an extra day of events, including touring US Navy ships here for Fleet Week. Drifting in Daylight: A special art in the parks exhibit, at the northern end of Central Park, with eight dreamy installations, including a replica of a 1930s Icelandic fishing boat floating on the Harlem Meer. Saturday in New York:
Victorian Gardens in Central Park: Tomorrow is opening day for the season, with kid-friendly rides and parent-pleasing prices. Victorian Gardens is located in Wollman Rink. Holiday weekend hours are 11am to 7pm. Victorian Gardens website.

Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit: Top quality paintings, jewelry, sculpture and mixed-media, all far better than the usual street fair schlock.

Lower Third Avenue Spring Festival: Third Avenue, between 7th and 14th Streets, 10am to 6pm NYC weekend flea markets and food fairs:
Smorgasburg: The popular Brooklyn foodie festival is back outdoors every weekend through fall, with more than 75 local vendors selling top quality sodas, gluten-free sodas, seafood and more.
