Tired of over-priced Uber rides with surcharges for peak demand times? Get a $10 flat rate ride in central Manhattan any time from Gett, the “other” on-demand black car service that lets you book a ride instantly with your mobile phone.
The $10 Anywhere campaign is good for rides anywhere between Houston Street Central Park South, regardless of distance, traffic, time, or number of passengers. $10. Period. No surge pricing, no hidden fees, no surprises on your credit card.
All other rides in Manhattan, to other boroughs and outside the city remain the regularly advertised price. You can find that final price by entering your destination into the app prior to ordering. Tip is not included, and additional stops and wait time result in added charges.
Gett offered this $10 flat rate briefly last fall, and the company tells NYCOYC that over the course of the campaign, Gett attracted 250,000 new passengers and saw downloads increase by more than 600%, with more than two million Gett downloads.
Gett also announced recently that it pays its drivers double what competitors offer, and has seen the number of its drivers double, with dozens continuing to join each day.
A driver working full-time for Gett makes $1,500 a week on average (after commission and tax deductions), for an average annual salary of $75,000. Some of Gett’s drivers are earning more than $2,500 a week, more than drivers for competitors like Uber.
Founded in 2010, Gett (globally known as GetTaxi), the company has taxis across three continents in 24 cities including New York City, London, Tel Aviv and Moscow. Gett features Future Bookings up to 2 weeks in advance, a flat transparent predictable pricing structure with no surge multiplier, and 24/7 Customer Support.
