Jazzmobile was founded by jazz icon Billy Taylor and others in 1964 to bring high-quality free concerts and education programs to the residents of Harlem. Over the years, with the talents and skills of jazz greats such as Jimmy Heath; innovative and cutting edge performance and education programs were established.
Over the years Jazzmobile expanded beyond New York City, and when funding allowed traveled across the country and to cities in other nations.
