Sweet September is a new New York City restaurant week to raise money for Citymeals-on-Wheels. For each dessert or sweet treat you order or buy at participating restaurants, cafes and shops, the eatery will donate $1 or more to the charity that prepares and delivers meals 365 days a year to housebound and frail elderly New Yorkers.
The Sweet September promotion is through Sunday, Sept. 21, and a good reason to go off your autumn diet plans.
The goal is to raise $75,000. Each participating eatery has designated a special Sweet September offering. Here’s the list:
Aureole: Vacherin (Crystallized Violet, Red Velvet Cake, Tahitian Vanilla Ice Cream)
DBGB: Mocha Sundae (chocolate ice cream, coffee sauce, hazelnut crumble, brownie and dark chocolate tuile, finished with whipped cream)
Make My Cake: “Citymeals” Cupcakes and Sweet Potato Pound Cake
Michael Jordan’s The Steak House N.Y. C.: All a la carte desserts
Rôtisserie Georgette: Tarte Tatin for Two
Schnipper Restaurants: Every milkshake
Sprinkles Cupcakes, Cookies and Ice Cream: Every cookie or brownie
Telepan: Peanut Butter & Chocolate Gianduja
Tribeca Grill: Coffee Hazelnut Torte
Feeding and caring for older New Yorkers since 1981, Citymeals-on-Wheels provides a continuous lifeline of nutritious food and human company to the city’s homebound elderly. Citymeals works with community-based organizations to deliver over 2 million weekend, holiday and emergency meals to 18,000 of our frail aged neighbors. Last year, more than 12,000 volunteers provided more than 55,000 hours of service.
Citymeals relies on the generosity of sponsors, its Board of Directors, the City of New York and other designated gifts to cover administrative costs. This ensures that 100% of public donations go directly to the preparation and delivery of meals.
