It’s another busy summer weekend for FREE events, so you can enjoy NYC on the cheap. Because NYCOTC believes you can be cheap and still have fun in the greatest city in the world. Unless mentioned otherwise, street fairs are 10 AM to 6 PM.
Free in NYC on Saturday:
SummerStreets: This is the last of three car-free Saturdays in Manhattan, with free family-friendly events sprinkled between the Brooklyn Bridge and Central Park. See the full NYCOTC posting for all the details.
Harlem Week Summer in the City: A children’s festival, music, swing dancing, sports, a health fair, fashion show and crafts workshops. Everything is along 135th Street, between Fifth Avenue and St. Nicholas Ave. See the Harlem Week website for specific times for each event, which include 135th St. and Marcus Garvey Park.
The Great Irish Festival is a street fair with an Irish theme, on Sixth Avenue between 42nd and 56th Streets.

Coney Island Sand Sculpting Contest: Both professional and amateur artists turn beach sand into magical shapes. On the beach between 10th and 12th Streets. It’s also a fund-raiser for local Hurricane Sandy relief programs. Event website.
Free in NYC on Sunday:
India Day Parade and Festival fills Madison Avenue with joyful music, marchers in colorful costumes, and Bollywood stars. It starts at Noon at Madison Avenue and 38th Street south to 23rd Street, ending in a street fair with entertainment, food, crafts and more. Event website.
Harlem Week Family Day: Presented by SummerStage Kids and Disney, it’s a full day schedule of sports clinics, a college fair, music and dance performances and more, including a vintage car show and a small business fair for the grown-ups. Fulton Street Fair, on Fulton Street between Water Street and Gold Street.
47th & 48th Street Block Association Fair, on Eighth Avenue between 42nd and 57th Streets
