It’s a special event celebrating the 50th anniversary of Jazzmobile. Musicians performing are the renowned Wycliffe Gordon, generally regarded as one of the world’s best trombone artists, and jazz drummer, composer and bandleader T.S. Monk, the son of legendary jazz great Thelonious Monk. Jazz, blues and R&B vocalist Alyson Williams is emcee and also performs.
Great Jazz on the Great Hill also features some favorite NYC food trucks and vendors, including Japanese inspired tacos from Domo Taco, authentic Greek cuisine from Uncle Gussy’s, healthy bistro burgers from Rouge Tomate, and for dessert gourmet ice cream treats from CoolHaus.
Family activities include lawn games and the decoration of an oversized birthday card in celebration of Jazzmobile’s 50th birthday.
It’s all happening 3 PM to 6 PM Saturday, August 9, at the Great Hill in Central Park, 106th St. near Central Park West.
Sponsored by the Central Park Conservancy and Jazzmobile, which has been bringing top-flight entertainment to NYC parks and internationally since it was founded in 1964 by the great jazz master Billy Taylor.
