Sunset Salsa: Every Tuesday through mid-August, dance under the stars at Hudson River Park to tunes spun by some of NYC’s best DJs. There’s a FREE beginner lesson at 6:30PM, and the dancing is from 7:15 to 9PM. At 14th St. and 10th Ave.
Rooftop movies: Mad 46 kicks off its Tuesday night summer movies tonight with a free screening of Caddyshack. Mad 46 is the rooftop bar at the Roosevelt Hotel, Madison Avenue at 46th St.
Summerstage in NYC Parks: There are free concerts and dance performances practically daily through the summer. On Wednesday, it’s R&B singer Sisqó, one of the five members of Dru Hill, who went solo after the group disbanded in 1999. Sisqó’s second LP, Return of Dragon, released in June 2001, eventually went platinum, and he’s hosted the the dance competition program, Sisqó’s Shakedown on MTV. The show starts at 7PM, at Betsy Head Park in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Event website.
Wednesday, June 11th: The final spring after work partner dancing in Bryant Park. This week it’s to Motown music. Dance to a live dance band, 7-8:30PM, pus a FREE dance lesson 6-7pm for those who need to turn one of their two left feet in the right one. At the Fountain Terrace.
Thursday, June 12: Celebrate Brooklyn concert with the music of Ornette Coleman featuring Denardo Coleman on vibe. At the Prospect Park bandshell as 7PM
Friday the 13th is a lucky day for fans of Train and Paramore. Train performs free for the Today Show Summer Concert Series headliner, in Rockefeller Plaza, sponsored by Toyota. The space opens at 6:30AM, but fans will be lined up before then. Paramore performs free for the Good Morning America Summer Concert Series in Rumsfield Playground in Central Park. Gates open at 6:30AM.
