This is no ordinary orchestra: it’s the super-tacular Harlem Renaissance Orchestra. Plus, there’s a FREE dance lesson for those of you with two left feet.
This dance is sponsored by the Harlem One Stop. The lesson is 5PM to 6PM, and then there’s dancing until 9PM. Where?
On the outdoor plaza of the NY State Office Building on 125th St. and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd.
The Harlem Renaissance plays top dance music from the days when Harlem was the center of the blues, jazz and dance universe, and legends including Ella Fitzgerald, Cab Callaway and Louis Armstrong kept everybody dancing.
Duke Ellington would tell you to Take the A Train. NYCOTC tells you that the 2 and 3 trains stop several blocks closer.
See you on the dance floor.
