New York City Ballet Family Day – There’s much more to ballet for children than just the holiday performances of Nutcracker. This 11AM workshop on Saturday takes kids 5 and older behind the scenes to learn about choreography, costumes and more from the dancers themselves, plus a brief performance. Tickets are $20 from the New York City Ballet.
Cinco de Mayo Parade – Colorful floats and toe-tapping music march along Central Park West on Sunday, from 96th to 106th Streets, starting at 11AM
Lincoln Center Street Fair – Sunday, noon to 5PM, on Columbus Avenue, 66th to 72nd Street
Crafts on Columbus: Saturday and Sunday, behind the American Museum of Natural History, 10AM to 6PM both days. Sponsored by the American Arts and Crafts Alliance, this is better than your average street fair stuff.
Beetlemania: This is your last chance to celebrate and remember, the 50th anniversary of the arrival of The Beetles in New York City on their first concert and TV appearance tour. New York Bicycle Jumble – If you rode in last week’s Five Boro Bike Tour, or wish you did, this event offers cycling clothing and accessories, advice from experts, including environmental groups, and the chance to test drive new and used bikes. Saturday, 10AM to 4PM at Old Stone House, Washington Park, Park Slope Brooklyn, on Third Street between Fourth and Fifth Avenues. Event website
