Once again this year, Barnes & Noble is offering one FREE book for kids 12 and under, to encourage summer reading. The program operates this way – write down the titles of eight or ten books on a special form, bring it into a B&N bookstore, and choose one free book from selected titles. You and the kids have until the beginning of September to bring in your list of ten books read, and pick out your prize.
Click here to download the Barnes & Noble summer reading program form, or pick one up at your local B&N store. You don’t even have to buy the books — although that is encouraged. Just list the book title and whether you would recommend it to other parents or grandparents.
Books are sorted by recommended ages, and there’s another section for award winners, such as the perennial favorite children’s book, Charlotte’s Web, and a couple of favorites of my own young grandchildren, including Pinkalicious and Captain Underpants.
This is a terrific program, since it encourages reading when school is not in session. Barnes & Noble also has a FREE year-round Kids’ Club with other rewards and special offers.
