The newest store in the growing Warby Parker eyewear brand is now open on the Upper East Side. It’s a two-story gem with floor-to-ceiling displays of frames, two eye exam stations, and a reading nook upstairs.
The store is at 82nd St. and Lexington Ave., in the space that formerly housed Lascoff Drugs, an old-fashioned, century-old pharmacy that shut down recently. Luckily, new-fashioned Warby Parker has kept original architectural features including a circular staircase, brass railings and the tile floor.
I walked by Sunday evening, just before the official opening yesterday, when the displays were still covered in plastic sheeting and a workman was still touching up final details.
This is the third Warby Parker store in New York City. The others are in Soho at 121 Green St., and in MeaPo at 819 Washington St. at Gaansevort. The company is also headquartered here in New York City.
