Modern dance: This dance troupe is called JUNK, perhaps because it incorporates found objects into highly acrobatic and hilarious programs. NYC on the Cheap has FREE tickets to their program Patio Plastico Plus, a series of seven prop-based pieces featuring breathtaking aerial dance, a satirical pas de deux, a tin can ballet, and the title work. That turns a patch of AstroTurf, a suite of plastic lawn furniture and some lounge music and turns it into a display of bubbly, Fellini-like glamour. Click here for FREE tickets for Thursday, Mar. 6. Other performances are $12.50-$17.50.
Comedy: Pseudolus is the comedy by ancient Greek playright Plautus which inspired the Stephen Sondheim’s mega-hit A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. This masterwork by Plautus has been making people laugh for a thousand years with a timeless theme of what some people will do to win the girl of their dreams. Click here for tickets for performances through March 15 are $5-$10.
New York Philharmonic: The New York Times proclaimed the New York Philharmonic’s recording of Danish composer Carl Nielsen’s Symphonies Nos. 2 and 3 as one of the Best Classical releases of 2012.
