NYC meal deal: Improper English Roast is a new twist on old favorites including fish & chips, steak with classic Yorkshire gravy, bread pudding and British beer. The restaurant at Hotel Chantelle, on the Lower East Side, is putting them all together for a special three-course prix fixe dinner with beer pairings, on Sunday nights.
The meal features a slow-roasted 16oz thick cut English roast with classic Yorkshire gravy, veggies, the bourbon-soaked bread pudding, and beers from a different distillery each week. Improper English Roast is $35.92, or you can order up items a la carte. The dinner is Sunday at 6 p.m., so you can be back home in time for Downton Abbey.
Hotel Chantelle is at 92 Ludlow Street at the corner of Delancey. Reservations are recommended.
