The 2014 New York Auto Show opening Friday offers the best new cars, including a first look at the flaghship 2015 Kia K900, the first luxury sedan from the Korean manufacturer best known for affordable models like the best-selling Optima sedan and hybrid and Sorento and Soul SUVs.
The 2015 Kia K900 is available with a 3.8 liter V6 or a humongous 5.0 liter V8 engine, and an impressive list of standard equipment including LRD interior lighting, power lumbar support, and dual heating and cooling seats. A full-length panoramic roof is available as an option.
There’s no word yet on price or fuel economy, but when I saw the K900 make its North America premier at the Los Angeles Auto Show last November, executives said it would go against the BMW 7 Series at a 5 Series price. That would make it around $70,000, or the price of nearly four Kia Souls.
But what were they thinking giving a luxury model a name that sounds like your favorite pet – K-nine-hundred.
NYCOTC editor Evelyn Kanter is also an automotive journalist, and I’ll be test driving some of the new cars in the days before the auto show starts. Yes, you should feel sorry for me. Read my new car reviews on NYCOTC sister website ecoXplorer, where there’s a page of best cars under $20,000
See this and approximately 1,000 other new cars and trucks at the 2014 New York International Auto Show, April 18-27, at the Javits.
