Aspen, Courchevel and other legendary ski resorts have arrived in Times Square, via the Haven Rooftop at the Sanctuary Hotel. The tented and heated lounge has an alpine ski chalet theme this season, complete with vintage skis bolted to wood-slat walls.
The tent transparent walls, so you can see the NYC skyline, something you can’t do from the chairlifts at Aspen or Courchevel. The menu includes ski resort style spiked cider, peppermint hot chocolate and s’mores kits, plus a full dinner menu.
Haven Rooftop isn’t exactly NYC on the Cheap – a glass of wine is $12 – but definitely worth it for a splurge. And it’s a lot cheaper than airfare to the Alps or the Rockies, and more convenient than the four-hour slog to Killington or Mt.Snow in Vermont.
Haven Rooftop is at 132 W. 47th St., opens at 4 p.m. daily, so you can go for apres ski. I mean after work.
