In anticipation of Canstruction’s 21st Annual Competition exhibition at the World Financial Center, audience favorites from last year’s NYC show are being rebuilt and on display FREE. After the exhibition, the cans of non-perishable food are donated to NYC needy. Canstruction is on display FREE starting today in the lobbies of One Liberty Plaza in Lower Manhattan, 245 Park Avenue and the Grace Building in Midtown at 1114 Sixth Avenue. The lobbies are open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays.
Canstruction background – This is an extraordinary annual design competition and the most unique food charity in the world. Teams of architects, engineers, contractors, and the students they mentor will compete to build large-scale structures made entirely out of unopened cans of food. The whimsical, wacky, and truly unique sculptures are then on view to the public until they are dismantled and donated to City Harvest for distribution to those in need. Admission is free, but visitors are asked to bring a can of high quality food to the exhibition’s collection station.
