This is a NYC success story – the popular food truck Wafels & Dinges has opened its first store, an authentic Belgian waffle cafe in the East Village, at the corner of Avenue B and 2nd Street. The cafe is serving favorites from the food truck menu, including the BBQ Pulled Pork wafel and the Bacon/Syrup wafel, plus new items, including
- wake-up grumpy” (wafel biscuit with egg, bacon & cheese)
- the “bastogne wafel” (a hashbrown potato waffle topped with prune “syrop de liege and sour cream)
- the “2nd Street Salmon Wafel” (a NYC classic with lemon-dill sour cream, capers & pickled onions)
- the “Volkswaffel” (a savory Liege wafel with Bauernshinken ham, raclette cheese and scallions
The cafe will also offer some authentically belgian packaged wafers / waffles, baked and packaged in the Wafels & Dinges commissary in Brooklyn. See the Wafels & Dinges website for hours and prices.
