Ecstatic Summer – Newly commissioned, collaboratively-based music for brass and percussion, this is part concert and part “happening,” since the ensembles include musicians from groups including Bon Iver, Mantra Percussion, The National, yMusic, and Plastic Ono Band. Performances at 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday in the Winter Garden at the World Financial Center. Ecstatic Summer is part of the 2013 River to River Festival. Note – this event originally was scheduled outdoors, in the Plaza, but moved inside because of the weather forecast.

Village Voice’s 4Knots Music Festival – Toes will be tapping at the South Street Seaport on Saturday for this annual festival of indie music on two stages, on Piers 16 and 17. Headliners are psych-folk musicians Kurt Vile & The Violators, with sets also from bands including White Lung, Marine Stern and many others. 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Event website.

U.S.O. Sixth Avenue Summerfest – Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., between 42nd and 56th Streets.
Riverdale Riverfest – This celebration is along the Hudson River and the Riverdale Greenway, Sunday, noon to 6 p.m. The organizers are offering FREE one-way transportation from Pier 66 in Manhattan (W. 26th St.) on the John J.
