Learn to lindy and swing where it all began, in Harlem. The Harlem Swing Dance Society offers $7 lessons every Tuesday evening. Learn how to strut your stuff to the music of Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald and other icons of the 40s and 50s, when Harlem was the center of the universe for music and dance.
You don’t need a partner, just enthusiasm and a comfortable pair of shoes. The dance lessons are 7-8 PM at the Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy Community Center, 34 West 134th St, between Lenox and Fifth Avenues — enter through 135th St. Event website.
If you are a regular follower of NYCOTC, you know I’m a swing dancer and lindy dancer, and love to spread the word about how much fun it is. Also good exercise. See you on the dance floor!
