Sugar Hill is a legendary neighborhood within the legendary neighborhood of Harlem. This was where the most famous and most wealthy residents lived, in elegant brownstones and townhouses that still line leafy streets and are still desirable — and expensive — addresses. Terry Baker Mulligan grew up here, and is giving a FREE program discussing “locals” including Thurgood Marshall, Sugar Ray Robinson, baseball’s Willie Mays, and the flamboyant US Congressman Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. She is reading from her memoir, Sugar Hill, Where the Sun Rose Over Harlem. The event is 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 7th, at The Riverside Theatre. Click here to RSVP to ensure space.
