Tim Tebow $22.22 Carnegie Deli sandwich

The reviews of Tim Tebow’s first NY Jets news conference have been uniformly positive — but reviews of the three pound, $22.22 Carnegie Deli sandwich named after Tebow are bad. Shame on Carnegie Deli for this abomination — the Tebow, also called the Jetbow, is an insult to the NYC deli tradition. Roast beef, lettuce and tomato, American cheese and mayo on white bread make a pretty good sandwich — but not a DELI sandwich, even with the addition of pastrami and corned beef. Yikes — corned beef with mayo! What are they thinking? Yikes — pastrami with mayo! What are they thinking. And on white bread yet. Aargh, phooey, and other gagging sounds. Actually, $22,22 for a three-pound sandwich isn’t such a bad deal — you can make three decent sandwiches out of this one monstrosity. Here’s how — Separate out the corned beef to stick between two slices of rye bread slathered with a good deli-style mustard, and do the same with the pastrami. What you have left is a perfectly good roast beef sandwich with mayo on white bread.
