Sample Brooklyn-made beer and other grown-up beverages at a FREE “Drink Local” event on Friday, February 24th. The Waterfront Wines & Spirits shop is pouring tastings of their Brooklyn-made vodka, gin and wine. The tastings are free, but you are encouraged to buy full full bottles, especially because proceeds from sales during the evening will benefit the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. Free pourings include beverages from Brooklyn Republic Vodka, Breuckelen Distilling, New York Distilling Company and Brooklyn Oenology Wines. The Brooklyn Bridge Conservancy is the nonprofit citizens’ group that works in partnership with Brooklyn Bridge Park to provide public programming and other support of the park. In 2011, more than 70,000 visitors attended more than 300 FREE cultural, education and recreational events in Brooklyn Bridge Park, including arts and education workshops, history tours, boating, movies, and family festivals. Waterfront Wines is at One Brooklyn Bridge Park, at the Joralemon Street entrance to the park, in an historic waterfront warehouse that has been converted into apartments. The Drink Local event if from 6 PM to 8 PM, Friday, February 24th.
