Anime is short for ‘animation’, a style of Japanese animation that pre-dates Disney and Pixar. Anime also has a core of devoted fans. The NYPL Mid-Manhattan branch has a FREE screening of Kenichi The Mightiest Discipline, a story about this kid who gets picked on at school and then becomes a tough guy thanks to Miu, a hot chic who teaches him six kinds of martial arts. It’s fun, and free. The Anime screening is 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, November 2nd, but get there by 8:30 to get a seat. The Mid-Manhattan Branch is at Fifth Avenue and 40th Street, across the avenue from the Main Branch, guarded by those two famous stone lions.
