Governors Island gets renamed as Pig Island this weekend for the second annual Pig Island BBQ festival. This is a locavore celebration, featuring New York State food, craft beer, wine and chefs. Eighty upstate hogs are being prepared by 20 top NYC chefs, including from Dinosaur BBQ, Jimmy’s No. 43, Joe Doe, Palo Santo, Buttermilk Channel, Hecho en Dumbo. There also will be cooking and knife demonstrations, and giveaways sponsored by top knife maker Wusthof. General admission tickets are $70 for unlimited food and beverages, or $40 for those who don’t eat meat.
