The Lincoln Center area has lost one of its major retailers — the Barnes & Noble store at 66th and Broadway, closed over the holiday weekend. But it won’t be empty for long. The financially-strapped bookstore is being replaced by the popular fashion discounter Century 21, which is scheduled to open by summer. This puts Century 21 halfway in between Daffy’s and TJMaxx a few blocks south, at Broadway and 57th, and Filene’s and Sym’s between 79th and 80th on Broadway. The Upper West Side is becoming a serious destination for fashionistas who love sales and bargains.
