See the best Off-Broadway shows for just $20 for 20 days, starting next Tuesday. This season’s 20at20 promotion includes such favorites as Gazillion Bubble Show, Stomp, Avenue Q, Newsical the Musical, Sistas the Musical, the long-running The Fantastiks, and some worthy new additions to the Off-Broadway scene.
20at20 is for matinee and evening performances Tuesday, March 28th through Sunday, April 16th.
Unlike Broadway Week half-price tickets, you cannot order 20at20 $20 Off-Broadway tickets online or on the phone.
The $20 Off-Broadway seats are available only at the box office, starting 20 minutes prior to show time.
Just mention “20at20” at the box office to get the discount, which is subject to availability, and the offer is for one ticket per person, so everybody who wants a $20 ticket must go to the box office to get it.
This is when it pays to go to the theater alone, because there’s almost always a single seat available, even for the best-selling shows. And when it pays to go to the theater on weekdays, when there are usually more seats available than on weekends.
I’m planning to see the recently-opened Church and State, a fast-paced, seriously funny take on faith, politics, and “The Twitter.” It’s three days before Charlie Whitmore’s Senate reelection and he’s decided to finally tell the public exactly what’s on his mind, no filter. What could possibly go wrong?
And Not That Jewish, a one-woman show featuring the Emmy Award-winning and Golden Globe nominated writer, actress and comedian Monica Piper. Reviews describe it as a hilarious and heartfelt autobiographical ride of a Jew…’ish’ woman’s life. From her show business family in the Bronx, to a WASP wedding, to her first step on a comedy club stage and life as a single mom, Piper shares milestones and moments that shaped her life with the same signature wit found in her writing on Mad About You, and her Emmy Award winning work on Rugrats. Reminiscent of Billy Crystal’s 700 Sundays with a peppering of Neil Simon’s Lost In Yonkers.
