Whole Foods saleWhole Foods is having a one-day sale on Friday, April 19th, of Marine Stewardship Council-certified wild Pacific cod fillets.  The price is $5.99 a pound, which is about half-off the regular price, depending on where you live.  There’s also a three-day weekend sale April 19-21 of Whole Trade Allegro Organic Breakfast Blend Coffee at $6.99 per pound, also with average savings of about 50%.  Stock up your freezer and cabinets on the cheap with these two Whole Foods deals.

Whole Foods Markets nationwide are having a giant sale on little shrimp.  The one-day only sale is Friday, Oct. 19, for $6.99 per pound for sustainable, additive-free cooked 31/40 white shrimp – that’s a savings of nearly 50 percent. These white shrimp are farm-raised in Thailand with strict standards for environmental protection, including annual third-party audits to ensure that farming practices meet Whole Foods Market’s Responsibly Farmed seafood standards, which prohibit phosphate and sulfite preservatives, antibiotics, and the use of feed containing poultry or mammalian products.  Shrimp is a versatile, flavorful and popular seafood items, and Whole Foods also has FREE recipes for cooked white shrimp:

NYC on the CheapWellness in the Schools kicks off the health and wellness program for kids called Move for Kids at the Whole Foods store on the Upper West Side, on Thursday, May 31st.  Join health, wellness and nurtion experts for demonstrations and classes by Move for Kids partner organizations including Broadway Dance Center, Physique 57, and Supper Soccer Stars. The group Veggiecation also will be hosting a healthy cooking class for kids and the grown-ups who love them and want them to be healthy and fit.  The program is 3 p.m. to 6 p.m..  There’s no registration; just be there.  The UWS Whole Foods is at Columbus Avenue and 98th St.

NYC on the Cheap, NYC cheap eats,best happy hours NYC, Steak 'n' Shake NYCReminder — Whole Foods Market’s popular Buck-A-Burger one-day sale is back for one day only, tomorrow, Friday, May 18th, when ready-to-grill burgers are on sale for just $1 each.  It’s a great chance to stock up on biotic-free patties to please anybody who loves burgers, and unless you are a vegan or a vegetarian, you do.  Love burgers, that is.  The Buck-A-Burger deal is limited to 20 burgers per person, and get there early before supplies run out.  Check the Whole Foods website for a Guide to Grilling, and a recipe for the perfect burger.  Make mine medium rare.

NYC on the CheapToday is the last day of a super discount meat sale at Wholefoods in NYC.   Meats are $1 off per pound or more, including the 85% lean beef patties I picked up at the Columbus Circle store the other day for just $2.99 a pound.  Center-cut boneless pork loin chops are $5.99, which is $3 less a pound than the regular price.  Air-chilled chickens are $1.99 a pound instead of $2.99. The discounts apply to the fish counter, too, with Atlantic salmon steaks from Norway are $8.99 a pound, $4 less than the regular $12.99 price.  French brie is $3.99 for a seven-ounce package, down from $6.99.  Over at the fresh veggie counter, organic chard and organic arugala are two bunches for $4, instead of $3.49 each.  Made in New York hummus is $1 off the regular $3.29 price.  These sale prices apply to the six Wholefoods locations in Manhattan.
