All you Marshalls fans (including my son) get ready to wear out your shoe leather at the newest Marshalls in NYC, a shoes only store at 740 Broadway at Astor Place, where Soho, Noho, the East Village and the West Village intersect. According to the company website, the grand opening is August 18th, and the hours will be a 8.m. to 10 a.m., but I can’t tell you if that late closing time includes weekends. If you need a Marshalls fix before then, there are a dozen or so stores within ten miles of Times Square. And if you need more bargains, check out the NYC on the Cheap Daily Deals page.
There are two true things about dressing our children — they grow out of their clothes and shoes too quickly, and those things are expensive to buy. Entera new online kid’s clothing company that rents, rather than sells, high fashion labels including Polo Ralph Lauren, Hanna Anderson and Burberry, and shoes from Goody Goody and Lacoste. Kind of like Netflix rents movies. Except Netflix doesn’t wash, dry clean and sanitize returned items according to the health and cleanliness standards of the National Association of Diaper Services. So instead of buying an expensive party dress or pint-size tuxedo your princess or prince will wear just once or twice, rent it. Ditto the onesies and shoes. Cost varies by item and the length of time you want to keep it.

Fashionistas and bargain hunters rejoice. Three new T.J. Maxx and Marshalls mega-stores are opening in Manhattan in the next few weeks, one each on the Upper East Side, Chelsea and Columbus Circle.
On Thursday, Oct. 28th, Marshalls opens on 18th St. and Sixth Ave. in Chelsea, also with a special opening day 8 a.m. start. This new Marshalls location essentially replaces the Filene’s Basememt store that closed recently.
On Thursday, Nov. 11th, another T.J. Maxx opens at 57th St. and Eighth Ave. This new TJ’s next door to a huge Gap and across the street from Daffy’s, which makes this block of 57th Street a new mega destination for budget fashion.
BTW — TJ and Marshalls are owned by the same company. Open a TJX Rewards MasterCard credit card and take an 10% off your first in-store purchase. Find more best buys on the NYCOTC Daily Deals page. Click here for a round-up of 100+ of the best online deals.
