Learn something at the One Day University featuring top professors from Tel Aviv University discussing climate change, the meaning of the Arab Spring, and more. This is really a one evening university, with sessions from 6 PM to 9:30 PM on Thursday, February 7th. And it’s half the regular full-day fee, also, at just $54 per person. The One Day University session is at UJA-Federation of New York, 130 East 59th St. at Lexington Avenue. Full information and sign up here.
Learn the latest news, trends and tips in social media at the Social Media Weekend 2013 conference at Columbia University in February. The conference is hosted by social media guru Sree Sreenivasan, and sponsored by Columbia’s School of Journalism and Dept. of Continuing Education. Speakers include experts from Facebook, Twitter, and, of course, Columbia School of Journalism, including Sree, who is Columbia University’s first Chief Digital Officer and a professor at Columbia Journalism School, where he teaches social and digital media.
In addition to panels and workshops, there will be a continuous group of Social Media Doctors offering social-media makeovers, tips and feedback in both one-on-one and small-group sessions, to guide you through the basics of social media, tweak your social media presence or guide you to a total make-over. There also will be professional photographers on hand to take headshots you can use as your profile photos.
Social Media Weekend 2013 @ColumbiaJourn via @sree is February 15-17. Click here to register before seats sell out. Lots of great tips, for journalists, bloggers, and small business owners interested in growing and simplifying their social media presence.
If you can’t attend, you can still follow Social Media Weekend updates on Twitter at the hashtag #SMWknd. I’ve attended several of Sree’s social media workshops over the years, including his presentations to meetings of the Society of American Travel Writers, which I’ve been a member of for eons.
