Normally, NYCOTC doesn’t publish news of the most crowded NYC sample sales that involve ridiculously long lines and waits to get in, like the just completed Prouenza Schouler and Louboutin sales. But I just bumped into a guide on how to get into the upcoming blockbuster sales of Manolo Blanhik and Jimmy Choo.
First, the when and where -
Jimmy Choo – Tuesday/Wednesday, May 7/8, Hours are Tuesday noon to 7pm, Wedesday 9am to 7pm, Metropolitan Pavilion, 123 W. 18th St. (btwn. 6th & 7th Ave), 4th Floor
Manolo Blanhik – Wednesday, May 8th (invite-only), Thursday, May 9th (public day), Doors open at 9am, Warwick Hotel, 65 W 54th St. & 6th Ave, 2nd floor ballroom.
Here’s the how to get in secret, from the fashion blog Madison Avenue Spy -
For Choo, unless you like four-hour lines, which happened on the first day of the last sale, wait until mid-morning of the second day. There will be less selection, of course, but your feet won’t be swollen and aching from standing on line, and try-ons are more likely to fit when you get them home.
For Blahnik, unless you are friends with a fashion editor who can share his or her invitation, forget the private sale day. The best way to get in on the public day is to be on line early – 7am is suggested – to get a number that lets you return at a specific time to shop.
And, yes, I know the image of the red-soled shoe is Louboutin, not Blanhik or Choo.
