The Kentucky Derby is Saturday, May 5th. Enjoy $5.54 drinks and appetizers during what’s often described as the most exciting two minutes in sports, at the Warwick New York Hotel. As anyone who follows sports knows, The Derby is also known as “The Run for the Roses” because the winner is draped in 554 roses. The Warwick will offer Banfi Rosa Regale – an Italian sparkling wine named for rose petals – at just $5.54 a glass, plus an appetizer portion of Burgoo, the spicy meat stew traditionally served at The Derby, also for just $5.54. Mint Juleps, the Derby’s signature cocktail, are $10. The first 20 patrons to purchase a Mint Julep gets a souvenir official commemorative glass. The Kentucky Derby drinks and appetizer specials are available from 11 a.m. through the race itself. Post time for The 138th Kentucky Derby is 6:24 p.m. EDT. The Derby is an elegant sports event, and the Warwick New York is an elegant setting to celebrate it. The historic luxury hotel was built in 1926 by William Randolph Hearst — the hotel’s bar and lounge is named Randolph’s, in his honor.
