It’s a bonanza for the fashionable and the frugal in NYC this week, with several hot stores newly open, in time for weekend and browsing and back-to-school bargains.

Marshalls Shoes is now open on Broadway and Astor Place.  Name brands at discount.  And it’s just a few blocks from the even larger DSW discount shoe store on 14th St. and University Place, in the vertical mall that also includes Filene’s Basement, which also has a large shoes and handbags section..

Uniqlo is now open on Broadway and 89th St.  It’s a small — for Uniqlo — pop-up store designed to build buzz for the new superstores due to open soon in midtown, at 53rd and Fifth, down the block from the flagship H&M, and on 34th between Fifth and Sixth, down the block from Macy’s, Daffy’s and JCPenney.

Nordstrom has opened a small boutique in Soho with a different name — Treasure & Bond.  This is Nordstrom’s concept shop, and it’s a good concept.  Designer goods, and all profits go to charity.  100% of the store’s profits are being contributed to NYC charities, including  the New York Public Library Programs for Children and Young Adults.  Nordstrom’s Treasure & Bond is at  350 West Broadway at Broome St.  The only other Nordstrom’s in Manhattan is a Nordstrom Rack,  on 14th St. and Union Square.
