NYC on the Cheap  is your one-stop resource for everything that’s great, wonderful and exciting about the greatest, most wonderful, most exciting city on the planet.  We’re here to help you take an inexpensive bite out of New York City restaurants, theater, museums, shopping, events and more.

Your guide is Evelyn Kanter, a lifelong New Yorker and award-winning journalist and photographer.  I’ve been writing about my hometown forever, and traveling the world to remind myself that there’s no place like home, The Big Apple. 

My not-so-secret resume  includes writing the “Sales and Bargains” column in New York Magazine, consumer reporter on WABC-TV “Eyewitness News”, where I fought against frauds, rip-offs and dangerous products, and writer or editor of a bookshelf full of New York City and New York State guidebooks and iPhone, iPad, iTouch apps.

My app, launched originally as NYC Free and Frugal, has been renamed NYC on the Cheap.  Find it on the iTunes store.  Also, now available in Android version.  Find it on Google Play

My newest guidebook is Peaceful Places New York City, with 100+ places to find tranquility and serenity in this city better known for sensory overload. 

New York City is my hometown, and I love to share it!
