They’re famous for their fresh hand-pulled noodles, but Xi’an Famous Foods also serves up some of New York’s most delicious and best-priced dumplings. Now, the growing mini-chain has switched one of its noodle shops to a dumpling-only spot.
The new Dumpling Spot is in Chinatown, at 67 Bayard Street. The former Xi’an noodle outpost serves up a broader range of dumpling options than in “regular” Xi’an restaurants, including three treasures (pork, shrimp, chives), pork and cabbage, bok choy and mushrooms, and a fiery lamb shuijiao served in a chili-oil sauce.

There’s also sweet congee, braised beef, and a General Tso’s chicken drumstick.
Dumplings, especially soup dumplings, have become so fashionable in NYC that even Vogue magazine has published a guide to the best soup dumplings in New York.
Note that Dumpling Spot is being called a pop-up, which means it can close at any time if the dumplings-only concept does not succeed. But no worries – the nearest Xi’an Famous Foods is down the block at 45 Bayard.
