The world’s largest Hanukah menorah will be lit every evening for eight nights on Fifth Avenue at 59th Street, starting Saturday, December 8th. This menorah, celebrating the annual Festival of Lights, is 32 feet high and weighs 4,000 pounds. It stands at Grand Army Plaza, in between the Plaza Hotel and the Apple Store, at the edge of Central Park.
A candle will be lit each night of the holiday around sunset. On Saturday, December 8th and again on the final night, December 15th, the lighting begins at 8:30 pm, after the end of the Sabbath. Sunday through Thursday the lighting is at 5:30pm (Sunday-Thurs), and at 3:30 pm Friday, before the beginning of the Sabbath.
